testimony to the author of life
sometimes I think I have good plans, then I remember the gospel. I remember how God makes the best plans and I just laugh. The new song the author has some solid lyrics I have been reflecting on recently.
Picked up the Book for the first time in ages
Still washed me clean with the dust on the pages
My life is a story I struggle to write
But is it one worth telling? Is it one You like?
Mm, so who am I? Who am I?
Am I just a poor preacher's prodigal son?
A troubled child, running wild
Chasing the glory instead of the One
Who says that I, even I
Have something still left to offer?
So who am I? Who am I
To question the pen in the hands of The Author?
Like every good story, you learn from the loss
And I lost the plot every time I've played God
I live in a moment You already wrote
There's proof that I'm someone, yeah, someone You love
Whoa, so who am I? Who am I?
Am I just a poor preacher's prodigal son?
A troubled child, running wild
Chasing the glory instead of the One
Who says that I, oh, even I
Have something still left to offer?
So who am I? Who am I
To question the pen in the hands of The Author?
I see trauma, I see worthless
You see something You can work with
I see weakness, I see failure
You see something good on paper
And I've seen ashes turn to beauty
I've felt heaven working through me
I've seen panic turn to power
Felt Your peace in my darkest hour
What grace is this?
Called me by name again and again and again and again
What grace is this?
Crossed out my shame
Forgives me again and again and again and again and again
So who am I? God, who am I?
Am I just a poor preacher's prodigal son?
A troubled child, still running wild
Chasing the glory instead of the One
Who says that I, even I
Have something still left to offer?
Oh, who am I? Who am I
To question the pen in the hands of The Author?
I'm ink in the pen in the hands of The Author
Mm, I'm ink in the pen in the hands of The Author
I'm ink in the pen in the hands of The Author
Who are we-to question the pen in the hands of the author?
Lord, every part of my story, you have allowed. Thank you for everything, it has strengthed me. Nothing is wasted to you, and you write the best stories. Take the pen back from my hands, and write the story that gives you the most glory through my life.
Romans 5:3-5
Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.
Romans 15:13
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit."
Lord, may we find you in our grief, our suffering and may you instill perserverence, charachter and hope into us through your holy spirit.
